In the WWF Living Planet report titled: “Species and spaces, people and places”, a disturbing picture of the consequences of man´s accelerated transformation and exploitation of the planet begins to emerge. Using well established indicators which measure trends in thousands of vertebrate species populations living on Earth, both on land and in water, the report states a dramatic decline of 52% of all animal species of the planet over the past 40 years alone! Only forty years.
As stated in the report- “We risk catastrophic changes to life as we know it”.
Fished out and polluted, our oceans are in collapse. Our water and air are turning into acid.
The content of our uniquely exotic yet extremely fragile sphere is in peril.
